thanks for the money is the compilation of the 50+ hours of hi-8 video footage we shot over the 5 years we were a band. the camera wasn’t always rolling, but we still managed to capture a brief glimpse of the highs and lows of a slightly popular touring band.we always preferred to keep our sets short. 7 - 9 songs, which usually clocked in at around 30 minutes, with another half hour of set up and tear down. this left 23 hours remaining in each day to fill when we weren’t playing. dealing with the free time is usually the biggest mountain to climb on tour. boredom mountain.our hope with thanks for the money is an honest representation of what it was like in the van, at the show and all the other random spots in between. thanks to everyone who sent in footage. sorry in advance for all the giggling from behind the camera.dedicated to matt davis.
Hey ho! In honor of Tommy Ramone’s recent passing, I wrote up this thing for Pitchfork: The CBGB Beat: Five Drummers Who Powered The NYC Punk Explosion. With the exception of Tommy now, all of these guys are still with us (and still working!). I had the chance to see Clem Burke in action a few years back and the dude is just a stunning drummer. Go see him if you can. In the meantime, you can check out more vintage live Ramones action via Big O. Let’s go!
